Why Coron Is One of My Favorite Trips
I have always been the kind of sister who tags along whenever my sister travels. Since I was young, if she wanted to go somewhere and did not have anyone to travel with, I would usually go with her. Because of that, I have been able to visit many places with her, and Coron has become one of my favorites. We first visited Coron in 2024 and went back again in 2025. I have always loved beaches, so I really enjoyed spending our days island hopping. Coron had some of the most beautiful scenery I had seen, with clear blue water, limestone cliffs, and beaches that still felt peaceful and untouched. Two of my favorite places were Twin Lagoon and Kayangan Lake. Twin Lagoon was probably one of the most memorable stops because getting into the inner lagoon was already part of the experience. During low tide, there is a small opening underneath the limestone where you can swim through to reach the other lagoon. You have to lower your head and carefully pass beneath the rocks. When the tide is too high, the opening becomes submerged, and visitors use a ladder to cross over instead. I remember thinking it was a little scary at first, but once we got inside, the lagoon, surrounded by tall limestone walls, was worth it. Kayangan Lake was different because we had to climb before getting there. The hike was short but steep, and there is a viewpoint along the way before you descend toward the lake. After all the steps, getting to swim in such clear water felt like a reward. It was honestly the cleanest-looking lake I had ever seen. The water was so clear that you could see the rocks underneath, which is probably why Kayangan is often described as one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in the country. Not every island-hopping memory was peaceful, though. During one of our stops near a shipwreck, the current was much stronger than I expected. I do not know how to swim, so when I started getting pulled away by the water, I panicked and cried because I really thought I was going to drown. Two Italian women who were nearby held both of my hands so I would not get dragged farther away. It was terrifying when it happened, but now it is one of the stories my sister and I always laugh about. Another memory I really like was much simpler. During our first Coron trip, my sister and I found a rooftop restaurant that we enjoyed so much that we went back when we returned the following year. The staff actually remembered us. They even offered us free dessert because they said we were already loyal customers. I love Coron because of the beaches, the island hopping, and places like Twin Lagoon and Kayangan Lake, but I think what made it one of my favorite trips was being able to experience all of those things with my sister. We have already visited twice, but I would still be happy to go back again. And according to my sister, the other reason I like Coron so much is because she paid for the trip. I cannot really argue with that.
