The Buddha Head in the Banyan Tree is a truly incredible work of art shaped by nature and time.

This is one of the ancient sites I had been wanting to visit since I was young. Even though I’m Thai, it was difficult for me to visit back then because my hometown is in the south, while this place is in central Thailand. Seeing it in person totally amazed me—not only because it is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also because, to me, it is such an incredible work of art shaped by nature and time. The Buddha’s head is deeply important in Buddhism. We have great faith in it and regard it as something sacred and highly revered. Yet somehow, nature and time have brought it down to rest among the roots of a tree. For me, it feels like a reminder that every person in this world, no matter how powerful, revered, or even prophetic they may be, will eventually return to the roots.
